How did I interpret portion number one? "Advertising is a tax you pay for unremarkable thinking." Some ads work. Some don't. Those who fail miserably at their objective and those who cannot even generate a percent in sales from their ads have basically thrown their money away. Fortunately, I haven't seen a lot of worthless ads where I come from. Except for some clothing ads...
